On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the Music City Mizfits once again proved they’re a powerhouse in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) Division III, taking down the East Tennessee Valkyrie 20–6 in Elizabethton, TN. The victory marks the second win over the Valkyrie this season and pushes the Mizfits to 4–1 heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
Defensive Dominance, Offensive Control
The Mizfits’ defense came to play, stifling the Valkyrie offense and allowing only one touchdown the entire game. Linebackers flew to the ball, the secondary stayed tight in coverage, and the defensive line applied relentless pressure from start to finish. 20 players recorded a defensive stat, showing a full team effort on that side of the ball.
Offensively, Music City was balanced and efficient. Quarterback play was poised, and the run game wore down the Valkyrie front. Red-zone execution was sharp, with two of the Mizfits’ three touchdowns coming inside the 20-yard line.
Numbers Tell the Story
According to Hosted Sports WFA stats, the Mizfits rank near the top of Division III in scoring defense and rushing yards allowed per game. Their +56 point differential also highlights their ability to control the pace and flow of games.
Massey Ratings currently places Music City as one of the top contenders in Division III, with strong overall, offensive, and defensive efficiency rankings. The Valkyrie, meanwhile, have battled through a challenging schedule and remain competitive, but they haven’t yet cracked the top half of the rankings.
Playoff Push Begins
With the win, the Mizfits all but lock up a playoff berth. Their 4–1 record, combined with key head-to-head victories over regional opponents, gives them a strong position in the WFA postseason picture. One more win could clinch home-field advantage for the opening round.
This season sweep over the Valkyrie is more than just a rivalry win—it’s a statement. The Mizfits are peaking at the right time and look every bit the contender they set out to be in 2025.
What’s Next?
The Mizfits will look to close the regular season strong and carry this momentum into the playoffs. With top-tier talent on both sides of the ball, the team is hungry for a deep postseason run—and they’ve got the results to back it up.
