The Music City Mizfits have done it.

After a season full of grit, growth, and undeniable heart, Nashville’s own women’s tackle football team has officially secured a spot in the 2025 Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) Playoffs. It’s a huge win for women’s sports in Middle Tennessee—and now, the Mizfits are preparing for the first-round matchup in Connecticut.

But here’s the catch: getting there isn’t easy.

Unlike most pro teams, the Mizfits are 100% self-funded. No big-name endorsements. No league-sponsored travel. Just a team of passionate athletes, coaches, and staff—working full-time jobs, raising families, and giving their all to the game they love.

“This is the opportunity we’ve worked all season for,” said Head Coach Donita Hines. “Now we just need a little help from our city to get there.”

To cover the costs of travel, lodging, and meals, the team has launched a GoFundMe campaign. The goal? To raise enough to bring the full squad to Connecticut and give them a fair shot on the national stage.

“We’ve earned this,” said team captain Veyonka Owens, a force on the offensive line. “We’re fighting not just for ourselves, but for every girl who dreams of playing football. Now we’re asking our community to fight with us.”

How You Can Help

This playoff run isn’t just about a championship—it’s about visibility, opportunity, and equality in sports. By supporting the Mizfits, you’re helping to rewrite the story of what women’s football looks like in the South and beyond.

Let’s get them to Connecticut. Let’s show the world what Nashville football is really about.
