Here comes 2021!

Well, we’re finally here! After the world finally starts to recover from the effects of Covid-19, we’re able to begin a new season in the WFA! It’s been a long time coming for the Mizfits to hit the field again.

Offensive Lineman Rachael Calar and Owner Rachael Ortiz-Marsh

On the field, we’ve got a new mix to the coaching staff, a big helping of standout rookies, and a hunger to finally show what we’ve got to the WFA and the city of Nashville. Coaching for the Mizfits, we have Tracy Logan as Head Coach, Donald Ragsdale as Offensive Coordinator, Matt Breymeyer as Defensive Coordinator, Dawn Foster as Assistant Coach, and Robert Hayes as Line Coach. Rookies include Kayla Hutcherson, Rodneika Crutcher, Kamari Townsend, Jasmine Blanton, Molly Suess, Jordin Crabtree, Allison Randall, and Heather Tatum. They’ve all made a huge impact on the field during practice and we can’t wait to see how they do as we suit up for scrimmages and season games. Our seasoned vets have done an amazing job guiding rookies as well as leading the ranks. Although we lost a few amazing talents who moved on to coaching positions and other life goals, we do know we’ve got a great core base of veterans to rely upon as we begin to watch game footage and work in complex formations and plays.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been working hard to promote the Mizfits brand and our sponsors. Recently securing a sponsorship with Cafe Coco, the Mizfits are planning to bring a ton of business and victory celebrations to the local cafe. We also recently participated in a WFA challenge to photograph the Mizfits promoting our league sponsors. We chose Coors and Teambuildr and we may have had a little too much fun showing off our sponsors, but we plan on doing more for our other sponsors as well. We’ve also had several great joint practices with our partners the Nashville Elite. Having that extra presence on the field definitely gives us an advantage when teaching a new play or formation.

We’re so excited to hit the field. We have a scrimmage coming up with our friends the Knoxville Lightning. It’s always a friendly game and a great learning tool for the rookies and vets. You should always practice how you want to perform, but there’s nothing like the pressure of game day.

Don’t miss out on the Mizfits! We’ll be sharing the 2021 schedule as as soon as possible. We’ll also start the search for volunteers, so if you’re Until then, take a look out our gear and keep an eye out for new 2021 Mizfits apparel. Your support means the world to us.

Go Mizfits!
