Mizfits Tag The Tigers in Shutout

The Mizfits are on a roll! Music City met the Huntsville Tigers for the first time in several years. Although the Mizfits had some troubles here and there, the ladies were able to secure the victory with a score of 33-0 over the Tigers. The Mizfits will advance to 2-0 on the 6-game regular season.

It’s going to be a tough road for the Mizfits to make it to Canton, but the stars have aligned so far and the Mizfits aren’t letting up any time soon. After the smoke cleared on May 15th, the Mizfits are 2nd in the Southeast American Conference and a good contender for a playoff run! After two games, Music City has had no opponent score and no game below 30 points. Massey Ratings has Music City at number 11 in the entire league, but the odds are still against us as we battle against strength of schedule and other things out of our control. Don’t worry though! The Mizfits is still fighting the fight and it will be very interesting to see what happens after the regular season ends in June.

As for the Mizfits and Tigers battle, it was a show from the start of the game. Within the first minute of play, the Mizfits were able to secure a pick 6 with rookie corner Kamari Townsend followed quickly by securing a fumbled punt return. The trend would be the same throughout the night, full of interceptions, fumbles, and some big runs for the Mizfits. The defense also held it down, making sure the Tigers got very few first downs and plenty of big tackles. Touchdowns for the game include Townsend, Jessica Phelps, Kate Siddall, Stacey Dykstra, and Leshay Shute. Leaders on defense were veterans Jasmine Brimm, Sheldon Bins, and Cie Cie Harris with interceptions, blocked kicks, and a few sacks between them. Defensive MVP was Kamari Townsend who also had a sack and several tackles for big yard losses. Offensive MVP was Molly Suess who made some big blocks (check the highlight film), a successful PAT and converted the unsuccessful PAT into a 2-point conversion. All in all, the Mizfits played a hell of a game.

While there is plenty to celebrate, there is always more to work on. There were a few too many flags on the field and too many points that were left there as well. The Tigers played a good game and were able to get some stops on defensive, but most of the mistakes were simply on us. The Mizfits will be taking on their toughest competition for the year with the Derby City Dynamite. The history between the Mizfits and the Dynamite stretches back for years and it’s always been a battle. Unfortunately, the Mizfits have been on the losing side of the battle for the past three games and they’re itching to prove they are a force this year! As we near the end of the week and prepare for the upcoming show, we know the Dynamite are doing the same and with a point to prove themselves. Willpower and determination will be the deciding factors this time around and we’re more than ready to show the world what the Mizfits can do.
