It’s been an exciting start for the Mizfits this year! We’ve had multiple players selected for bowl games and All-American. We’ve had coaching changes and staff additions. We’ve already had a scrimmage at Nissan Stadium and have a few more planned before the start of the season. We’ve been….busy.

Meetings, Tryouts, and Conditioning
We had a great turnout for our tryout camps this year! It was very important to us to create a bit of transparency and order to our process this year. We ended up having the rookies tryout separately from the veterans. This gave the coaches more time to focus on building rookie skills each week and also gave a great opportunity for players to create a bond from the beginning. We assessed speed, agility, endurance, and effort levels of all the players and we’ve been lucky to fill a lot of essential positions this year.

Giving Back
Every year, we have a Mizfits Trunk or Treat near downtown Nashville to give back to the local community. This year was full of fun with some great costumes and even better games for the kids to win treats. We hope to continue this event and only hope it grows stronger throughout the years. We also recently worked with kids at Nissan Stadium. Players helped with drills and fundamentals and even got to sign a few autographs. One of the best moments was knowing just how motivational it is to see women playing football and showing those kids that they can do anything they desire!

We also have hosted a coat drive, helped build with Butterfly Moments Inc. Women’s Recovery Center (one of our awesome sponsors), and Room at the Inn.

Titans Tales
After a stellar experience with the Titans last year, the Mizfits are looking great. We took on the Derby City Dynamite for a friendly 20-minute scrimmage and came out victorious with a score of 6-0. The lone score came from QB Tessa Marsh as the quarter ended. The defense was on point, essentially stopping any forward progression on the first drive and shutting down the run on the second Dynamite possession. We have so much to work on, but so much to build on. It’s been a huge help to have more and more veterans returning each season to help carry the torch, but rookies who have only recently gotten fitted for pads showed up and proved they are ready to help lead us to our first WFA championship.

The Titans aren’t finished with us yet! We’ve been given the opportunity to continue with fundraising efforts for upcoming Titans’ games. We currently have Titans tickets for sale for only $35 a piece, so make sure you get them while you can! Keep your eyes and ears open for more ticket information.

As we see the end of the year quickly approaching, we’re ready to see what we can improve on and how we can continue to promote women’s football and the Mizfit mantra of Hard Work, All Day. If you haven’t been paying attention, now is the time to grab your popcorn. The Mizfits are ready to put on a show.
