Recognizing Greatness

Music City Mizfits 2019 All-Americans

The year has been chock full of awards and recognition for our top athletes. Just a few months ago, we saw 9 Mizfits selected for WFA All-American and three of them were first team. Right after that, we honored running back Jamie Lock and linebacker Jessica Phelps for their outstanding achievements during the 2019 season. Our goal here is to make it harder and harder to choose who to recognize!

Bowl Game Selections
Recently, Lock, Taylor-Brimm, and Jackson went to Canada as a part of the WFA’s Team Elite. While there, they contributed to a 49-0 shutout over the Canadian team. Jasmine Brimm was crowned Defensive Player of the game and everyone got a jersey and medal to commemorate the experience.

We also saw several of our players head to Las Vegas for the Hall of Fame Bowl game and a few others who were selected for the next Team Elite game in Miami! It’s been a huge year of recognizing amazing talent and getting to challenge ourselves as we see the world.

Coaching Opportunities
Finally, we’ve seen so many league changes within the world of women’s football, but this doesn’t include the changes around the arena, youth, and local leagues. We’ve been lucky enough to see our own Jamie Lock take on a coaching position last year with local high school Ezell Harding as the running back coach. She’s only doing more this year as she’s signed on as a coaching intern with the Music City Fire.

We have two current coaches on our team who will also be coaching the Nashville Elite, Tracy Logan and Matt Breyemeyer. The Elite are a powerhouse team and partners to the Music City Mizfits. So far this season, they’re off to a 1-1 start and we know they’ll continue to progress. This means we condition and work with the Elite who help us grow stronger. Just ask them about our first scrimmage against them!
